Pastor David L. Brown, Jr.
is the son of Brother David L. Brown, Sr., and Sister Edith Kilbourne. Pastor Brown was raised in a Christian home along with his sister and brother where his mother and stepfather, Deacon McArthur Kilbourne, led the family in bible reading and prayer. Pastor Brown tells of childhood memories where he would attend prayer meetings with his late aunt Helen Alexander at Evergreen Baptist Church in Baton Rouge where he was baptized by the late Reverend Goodman.
Pastor Brown answered the call of God and preached his first sermon at the age of 17 under the leadership of Pastor G. W. Lewis at the Union Baptist Church in Norwood, Louisiana. Pastor G. W. Lewis served faithfully as pastor and mentor of Pastor Brown and continues to do so to this day. Pastor Brown is a proud graduate of Inter-Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a bachelor’s degree in religious education.
Serving with Pastor Brown in life and ministry is his wife , Sister Creshell Brown. Pastor Brown describes his wife as being truly God sent. “God knew exactly what I needed at that time in my life when Cree and I met. He raised her up just for me as he did with Eve for Adam. Like Adam and Eve, the journey hasn’t been perfect, but God has been with us every step of the way and He hasn’t allowed us to travel one step of this journey without guiding each step we take.” Pastor and First Lady Cree are humbled by the opportunity God has given them to serve Him as they serve First Unity Baptist Church.
